This module covers the need, concept, design and
evaluation of various controlled release and targeted drug delivery systems.
Students will be taught about the advantages and disadvantages of such systems,
factors to be considered when designing controlled release formulations, the
choice of excipients particularly the polymers and evaluation methods of the
formulations. Different types of delivery systems such as mucoadhesive, targeted,
and parenteral drug delivery systems will be discussed.
