For the Year 5 course, the students will be expected to focus on the holistic management of psychiatric illnesses. They will need to refine their skills in the psychiatric interview and mental state examination, make diagnoses and formulate the management plan for patients. They will revisit the main conditions in psychiatry which will also serve as revision for the Final Professional Examinations (Part I).

By the end of the posting, the student would be able to:

1. perform with competence the psychiatric interview, mental state examination and physical examination

2. use the all the information gained to make a diagnosis

3. formulate appropriate management plan for each patient according to the diagnosis

4. demonstrate responsibility and professionalism expected from a junior doctor

5. work together as a team with other health professionals, in the assessment and management of patients.
