Medical Microbiology is an introductory microbiology course with an emphasis on medical/biomedical aspect. Medical Microbiology covers bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites of medical importance, causing diseases in humans. The important aspects included are characteristics, classification, pathogenicity, pathogenesis of the diseases caused, principles and microbiological diagnosis and preventive measures. The practical sessions are designed to reinforce the theoretical knowledge and apply to the clinical setting. The goal of this course is to familiarize the pharmacy students with the biological agents of medical importance.
