Pathology involves the study of causes and mechanisms of diseases. Microbiology involves the study of common organisms causing diseases including nosocomial infections and precautionary measures to protect one from acquiring infections. This course will provide the student with knowledge on systemic interactions between humans and microorganisms specifically with regard to the normal flora and various types of pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, and fungi), pathogenesis, and diseases of pathogenic clinical microorganisms.
