This course provides an introduction to the chemical principles behind the design and production of inorganic pharmaceutical agents. Focus is on outlining the method of preparation of preparation, uses, and special tests if any, of the different classes of inorganic pharmaceutical included in the current pharmacopoeias. This course draws on and expands upon material covered in introductory inorganic chemistry such as the different sources of impurities in pharmaceutical substances and their limit tests. For official compounds, general properties, assays, storage and uses should be discussed.
